Because a vanilla system is the reference point.
And it never gets me into trouble.  Even in this case,
i don't believe that it was upgrades that created the
dependency problem  (but my build machine is down at
the moment with a bad SCSI card so I can't check).

That's my packaging philososphy.  My call since
I'm maintaining the packages.
