If you have a way of converting it back to the preferred source format
that would be excellent. I significantly updated the man page manually,
because I could not find the original sgml source - I had not checked in
the early draft of the man page source last year. I don't know of tools
to convert back to xml from man page format.

Steve, the way manpages build in SAMBA_3_0 assumes everything is in
Docbook XML 4.2 format in docs/docbook/manpages/*.xml. And Makefile rule
is cleaning docs/manpages/ during generation time, so your manpage would
be lost.
I can convert it to Docbook XML 4.2 for you but once that you'll have to
maintain it in this format.
