Create Password

Hi
I'm developing a php-frontend for managing samba- and linux-accounts in
ldap.
Does anybody know where I can get a function in php which creates the
encrypted samba-passwords?
In samba-source I'Ve found the programm mkntpwd. Unfortunatly my C is very
bad
so I'm not able to port the code to php.
Is there a step-by-step manual to create the encrypted passwords?
Maybe I can develop the code on my own.
