After removing the emphasis that was put on the cost of a socket call,
the patch should be a lot less horrid now.  It no longer touches smbd.
With this rev you will need to be sure that your winbind [ug]id
parameters include the full range of id's that you may want to allocate,
even if you have lots of non-winbind id's in that range.

Please don't sugar coat the comments on this rev of the patch.  It makes
it so hard to figure out what people really think of it.  :)
