[PATCH] Fix Name mangling in HEAD

Some time ago I proposed such a change for 2.2 but parts are also
usable for HEAD. Now I have tested name mangling in HEAD and found
it does not work, it is even worse as in 2.2
I would be very pleased if name mangling works as it should in 3.0
