Hi,

I took a look into my log created with debug level = 10.
It looks, that my oplock problems are caused by select timeouts.
It is observed only with Win2kSP2 clients.
It is _not_ observed with WinNT4.0SP6a clients.
System is linux 2.4.18 with XFS filesystem.
Samba is 2.2.3a.

On the client side Win2kSP2 PL (as I wrote in Re: TDB corruption with Samba 2.2.3a):

Excel hangs for about 30 seconds, and then I get (translated from Polish):
"Access denied for 'filename'. The file can be read-only or you try to
access read-only site. Or the server on which the documents are stored is not
responding"
And buttons 'Retry', 'Cancel'.

Regards,

Olaf Fraczyk
