samba-3.0alpha15 configuration errors on netbsd-i386

hi,

tried to configure with:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba3 --enable-debug --enable-dmalloc
--with-afs --with-syslog --with-utmp --without-smbwrapper
--without-smbmount --enable-developer
says
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot create executables.
samba-2.2.3a configures right with almost the same options. tried to hack
into 'configure', but seems i'm too lightweight to get it right :>  what
am i doing wrong?
(please cc the answers to me, i'm not subscribed to the list)
