This is less of a problem than you might think. :) At least under
Linux, the libpam implementation is GPL-compatible; and there are GPL
apps that use PAM. So about the only thing the GPL really prevents you
from doing here is shipping an operating system where pam_smb is enabled
by default for GPL-incompatible applications.
Not that pam_winbind isn't still a better choice. People just shouldn't
necessarily be discouraged from writing GPLed PAM modules. :)
