setting debuglevel?

In the SMBD on 2.0.x stream the -d option must be higher than 4 if you 
want to redirect the debugging messages to stdout.

I do not know if this has been changed in later releases.

This is because unless the debug level is higher than 4, the output file 
is opened before the value is assigned to the debuglevel variable.

Is this a bug or a feature?
