Intercepting CIFFS calls.

Hi,
  I would like to know if there is a hook or window to
intercept CIFFS calls?

By intercepting I mean,
Suppose the SAMBA client sends a SMB_COM_OPEN_ANDX
message to the server, the server before returning
with file id has to do some application specific task
like say generate metadata for the file. This can also
be looked at as customizing the code, is this
possible?-I think it must be- if so how much work is
involved?
