winbindd crash when the group membership can't be looked up

Back in December, tridge at samba.org updated the 3.0 tree to fix a 
winbindd crash. Here's the log message:
"added a query_user backend
fixed a winbindd crash when the group membership can't be looked up"

I am wondering if this fix will be applied to the 2.2.x tree. I see that 
ADS is part of the fix in his checkin, but it is not clear that it is an 
essential part of the fix. In other words, the fix itself may not be 
hinged on ADS.

So... can/will this fix be applied to the 2.2.x tree?
