I've got the same problem. I haven't had time to look at it in detail yet,
but you can also reproduce it with a getent search (e.g. getent group
<gid>), however a full enumerated getent listing works fine.

Yeah, I copied the new file over. The old file didn't have any library
links at all I noticed. The new one is as shown. I may be putting this
project on hold however. I just got out of a sys admin's meeting and we are
now considering moving this PC share to an SGI machine running IRIX... Fun
fun! =/

It sounds like you have solved the linking problem. This problem is a
different one. (-:

Did you copy the freshly compiled libnss_winbind.so in to /lib again?
