[PATCH] Fix 3.0 to observe executable extensions

I've applied the exe suffix part of these changes to HEAD and 3.0, but I
would like to see the torture changes split out a bit if possible - is
it possible to emulate somthing like shmget() with shm_open()?  This
could be added to lib/system.c.  We try to avoid #ifdef in mainline
code.
