/usr/local/samba/lib/libsmbclient.so.0: undefined symbol: cli _send_keepalive -> Samba 3.0alpha18

I created a program to use the libsmbclient based on Samba 3.0alpha18 and I am
getting an unresolved reference at run time for the above routine called from
smbc_check_server().

Could someone tell me where this should be defined and what is needed to correct
it?
