It was a pur Adobe PostScript one (Heidelberg Digimaster 9110), but
having a rather large PPD (~110 kB).

This is down now to 40 seconds since I updated to the latest SuSE-CVS-RPM
made by Lars...

The WinNT client is a PII-300 laptop with 128 MByte RAM, the samba box
a SuSE 7.3 PIII-500 with 512 MByte.

True -- now this last output has changed to:

#Running command: rpcclient localhost -N -U'root%root2002' -c 'adddriver
#"Windows 4.0"
#
#DigiMaster:ADOBEPS4.DRV:DigiMaster.PPD:NULL:ADOBEPS4.HLP:PSMON.DLL:RAW:ADFONTS.MFM,DEFPRTR2.PPD,ICONLIB.DLL"'
#cmd = adddriver "Windows 4.0"
#"DigiMaster:ADOBEPS4.DRV:DigiMaster.PPD:NULL:ADOBEPS4.HLP:PSMON.DLL:RAW:ADFONTS.MFM,DEFPRTR2.PPD,ICONLIB.DLL"
#Printer Driver DigiMaster successfully installed.
#
#Running command: rpcclient localhost -N -U'root%root2002' -c 'setdriver
#DigiMaster DigiMaster'
#cmd = setdriver DigiMaster DigiMaster
#Succesfully set DigiMaster to driver DigiMaster.

I am quite happy for now... Everything seems to work as advertised.
Tommorow I'll do some tests, then write my paper the SambaXP conference
and print it on Sunday to bring to Goettingen, using today's
achievements... ;-)

Thank you very much, Jerry, Mike, Lars, for your help tonight!

Thank you, Samba Team, for this huge achievement!

Bye,
Kurt
