increase read/write size

Hi,

I want to know how to increase the size of data to read or write in
commands "read","write","read_andx","write_andx"
The size today in my system is 4K. 

*	What changes should I do in the client ?
*	Can I increase read/write size without increase block size of
disk in client?
*	What changes should I do in the server ?
