heimdal kerberos experts?

Anyone out there know the heimdal kerberos implementation well?

The new kerberos support in Samba seems to work well with MIT
kerberos, but not with Heimdal. The failure occurs in
krb5_get_credentials() with a "miscellaneous error".

Strangely enough, if I use kinit from MIT kerberos then use smbclient
linked to heimdal it works fine. It only fails if I use kinit from
heimdal. 

The kerberos code in Samba can be seen at
http://samba.org/ftp/unpacked/samba/source/libsmb/clikrb5.c in case anyone
can spot the error.
