We don't have any choice about whether the client opens one connection
or many, except when there are client-side registry hacks to change
their behaviour.  

The questions is whether Samba needs a way for very long-running
operations to go into the backgrounds and allow other operations on
that socket to continue.  I don't know if it's a good idea -- I think
probably not, and at any rate virus scanning is probably too much of a
special case to justify it.
