Procedure Number out of Range

I used the exact commands from the web site,
from my /usr/src/ directory I typed:

cvs -d :pserver:cvs at pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot login
[at password prompt] cvs
cvs -z5 -d :pserver:cvs at pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot co -r SAMBA_2_2 samba
[after it finished I typed] cvs update -d -P
