IRIX tardist binary 2.2.0 filehandle/log file problems ?

Hi guys,
I've been running the binary versions of samba for a while, I've
upgraded one of my machines to 2.2.0 and have found that when I modify
the config files I get the following output on the console...

I've attatched the output of attatching par to the running smbd the
"touch" was done at 293949mS
>From the looks of it there is some confusion over the file handle or
something similar, has anybody else seen this before ? 2.0.7 never did
this before and we run it on about 70 SGIs here.
