Some installation scripts fail if directories do not exist.

Hi,

I have noticed that some installation scripts fail if some directories on
the path they are trying to create do not exist.

For example, source/script/installswat.sh.

I suspect that they should use 'mkdir -p', but I wonder if that switch is
universally available?
