readline callbacks in Samba 2.2.0

I noticed that SAMBA 2.2.0 is now able to use what appears to be
call back functions in for readline().

These look to be fairly easy to implement to get SAMBA 2.2.0 running
on OpenVMS.

I am unable to find any documentation on my searching of the web on
these functions though.

Can someone either give me a pointer on where I can look them up or
send me a plain text document on them?

I think I can guess most of the information about them, but I prefer
to implement from specifications.
