This is a common complaint - *every* package patches the makefile. The Linux
FHS is a *good* setup, and I'd cheer if Samba's Makefile was fixed. Of
course, it doesn't just run on Linux, but...

/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf

That's just broken.
