Share name longer than 13 characters with winbind and win95

I've just installed winbind and (which is working well) but the share names
produced for homes are more than 13 characters which causes WIN95 clients to
fail. eg home of PANAVISION+markc, client requests PANAVISION+ma and failure
occurs. Does anyone have a solution as I would like to keep winbind and no
choice over WIN95. I can send logs if required.
