I'd really like to have this included in the cvs tree before 2.2.0
(before next alpha/beta if possible).

Have you or anyone else looked at it yet? I have sent this before, but so
far no response (positive or negative).

I'll gladly split it into smaller pieces if that helps. The only thing it
touches besides smbmount/smbmnt is lib/debug.c, so if that is ok then it
shouldn't break any server functionality.

It fixes memory leaks, a socket leak, reconnecting to unreachable servers,
adds "credentials" from smbclient, adds support for ascii format mount
options, allows logging even when run from autofs.

Please don't ignore it just because it is unimportant smbmount/smbfs
stuff. Too me this is "significant functionality", I suppose others have
different priorities ... :)
