passdb and mangle was corrupted twice. I cannot tell you if a special action
causes the corruption. I get error messages like this in the log file:

[2001/12/22 16:33:35, 0] smbd/mangle.c:mangle(260)
  mangle: database retrieval error: Corrupt database
[2001/12/22 16:33:35, 0] tdb/tdbutil.c:tdb_log(376)
  tdb(/var/cache/samba/mangle.tdb): rec_read bad magic 0x42424242 at
offset=459624

the "bad magic" 0x42424242 seems to be the same for all corruptions. I never
had problems with filesystem corruption and I think samba causes this.

My system information

- Linux 2.4.16 - XFS patched kernel
- AMD Athlon CPU
- gcc 2.96-0.96mdk (Mandrake cooker) - used for samba compilation
- egcs-2.91.66 - used for kernel compilation
- XFS partitions - ACL is enabled in samba
- small home network with 2-3 windows clients
- problem was with samba CVS 2001/12/20 - testing with 2001/12/22 now
