that depends entirely on the settings of your LDAP server.  If it's
properly configured: no, ACLs should be set up allowing the user samba
connects as, and only that user, to read ntpassword and lmpassword from
the ldap server.


As for the LDAP_OPT_X_TLS_HARD : ldap support currently requires
OpenLDAP 2.x, which, if you have it installed should have that #defined
in ldap.h.
