Samba 3.0 alpha1 - endless loop with getent passwd

Thanks for the previous replies on how to get the release 3 alpha3 source. I 
got it and compiled. When I run (using my same config file from a samba 2_2_2 
that works) and do a "getent passwd" I see a list of usernames and then I see 
the same list over and over and over and over...

Hers some sample output (2 lines are really one line of getent output):

Looking at the tcpdump for about a minutes worth of this I see a quite small 
file indicating that it is not going over the network over and over!

Do I need to configure smb.conf or dont have usernames that look like:
QALAB\User-XXXX
