Just in case anyone thinks this is dogma, not practice,
there was an excellent IBM paper presented at the CIFS
conference (I don't think it's available on the Web though)
showing how a per-user-daemon smbd beat the tar out of a
multi-threaded implementation performance and scalability
wise.....
