On Samba-Technical messages

Over the past 2 weeks I have had the pleasure (quite so) of reading the
entire contents of the Samba Technical mailing list from mid-June until
today. I had fallen way behind in my reading due to business travel and
vacation. I just want to say that I'm truly impressed by the quality and
quantity of team work and just plain hard work that goes into maintaining
and improving Samba. You should all be proud of the work you do on this
project, and very proud of the professional and courteous way in which you
interact with each other. I especially like the way people contribute their
observations, expertise, and suggestions while acknowledging their biases
and limitations, and while also avoiding personal criticism. Those of you
who use the latest revision from the CVS archive deserve a special thanks
for having the courage and energy to find the leading edge issues, so that
those of us who trail behind can have an easier experience.

I have two small observations and suggestions after reading so many
messages. (1) Please continue to take the time to edit down the original
message when you respond to it. I understand and accept the need for an
occasional long message to thoroughly report an incident, but it is tedious
to wade through a follow-up that says "I saw that too" and then copies the
entire original message. (2) Could we get the re-mailer to understand MIME
and have it strip the HTML version of the mail, leaving only the plain, text
version? Or to just reject mail that uses MIME? (Thus, asking the sender to
try again without MIME). It is quite tedious to see two copies of email, one
in HTML and one not.

Thanks
PG
