Hi,

I have been using Samba with the following
configuration :
- Windows NT PDC
- Linux server with Samba and corresponding resources
to share
- Windows 98 and NT clients.

In the smb.conf file, some resources have been
specified as guest public yes. For these resources, no
problem occurs. In the globals section of the file, I
used security=domain and password server=the NT PDC
which I have added to the lmhosts file. If I try to
connect to these resources, the password I type which
is the same as in the NT PDC is stated wrong. 
By looking into the log file of smbd, no query is sent
to the NT PDC in order to look up the password.
I am not sure if Samba is accessing the user list in
the PDC.
