smbclient 2.2.0alpha1 - cannot aothenticate as domain user

Using smbclient from 2.0.7, `server' is PDC

bor at itsrm2% smbclient -L server -Uuser <= domain user
added interface ip=xxx bcast=yyy nmask=255.255.255.0
Password: xxx <= password for domain user
Domain=[DOMAIN] OS=[Windows NT 4.0] Server=[NT LAN Manager 4.0]

Password: xxx <= the same password of course
session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)

I've tried using

-Udomain\\user

and 

-W domain

without any success.
