It's part of the effort, yes. Currently no Samba version uses
automatically generated RPC stubs, but this will change.

Yes, probably. But 2.2 is *much* more than a client update. It will
contain a new locking system, updated wildcard matching, probably NT
printing and MS-DFS support. The RPC subsystem will not be touched so
much though.
