samba and inetd problems

Thanks for the feedback, I really do appreciate it even if I sound a bit
testy at times.
I am going to check my firewalls again since that is an obvious possibility.
I will let you know.
Are you a firewall expert?

I wasn't trying to suggest that the firewalls were "wrong" - it's
perfectly reasonable for them to prevent outsiders trying to access
Windows file sharing on the protected machine! (I'd be complaining if the
firewall did NOT do this, I suspect.)

If you get a VPN tunnel set up so packets between your machine and the
Stratus do not pass through the firewall (except in the "tunnel") you
should find it all works.
