Sorry? The problem here was with user authentication - VOS doesn't return
the encrypted password when asked, even for root. It looks as if Ron now
has a fix for that.

If you were meaning my explanation of inetd's operation would break
getpeername(), you're probably right - that wasn't the area the problem
lay in, it was VOS's authentication (or lack thereof).
