Oh and, this is not so major. Just a few scripts and standard config
[sub-]files in standard locations.

We do have a Solaris package which takes care of configuration. It has a
request script (Solaris pkg parlance) that asks all the appropriate
questions and goes from there. It can configure standalone and Veritas
HA systems.

BTW, imagine how much simpler tools like SWAT would be to write and
maintain if they were based on the 'source environment' parameter: such
tools would have two configuration modes:

 - base config type (file/print server vs. PDC/BDC, security modes, etc..)

 and

 - specific config details (netbios name/aliases, workgroup, WINS
   servers, DCs, interfaces, etc...)

The first item would be a matter of symlink the appropriate config file
to /etc/smb.conf.

The second item would be a matter of maintaining an env(1) format file.

The code to do all this is much simpler than parsing and understanding
smb.conf in general.

(hint, hint, nudge, nudge to the SWAT maintainers :)

So, will the patch go in? ;)
