Problem with mounting SMB remotely

I mounted a samba server on my windows98 machine remotely(from an earthlink dialup) for about 20 minutes, after which I just couldn't connect anymore(via the \\<ipaddress> method in an empty explorer window). The error message in the log.smb file is as follows:
open_sockets: accept: No route to host

I searched the archives on www.samba.org for such an error, and came up with nothing. Was hoping someone on the lsit could help me get this fixed up.

The samba server and the home machine both have wins support enabled.
