But what are the URLs for the subitems under smb://blee/ in that case?

The syntax just hammered out not only does not differentiate, it doesn't
allow for any possible differentiation.  Since, as you pointed out, this
is a very, very, bad thing in the first place, I do not think the URI
syntax needs to adapted to accomodate it, but one will have to take
precedence over the other.
