Failsafe has been open sourced as Jeremy said and there is a plugin
for Samba for that exists for IRIX. I plan on porting that to Linux
(though I don't really think anything will have to be changed - just
tested). Currently SGI has not open sourced any of the plugins but
I'm working on convincing them to at least open source the Samba
one :-)
