ldap development status?

hi all!

what is the current status of samba ldap developent? is anybody
actively working on it?  the main reason i ask is because of a bug
(something with ACB_INFO i think) that makes changing passwords from
nt clients fail. i think i have some idea about how to fix it, but i'm
not too clear about the whole thing.

also, i have an idea. in my ldap sever i have all the hosts in my
domain defined under their own ou. would it be considered a Bad Idea
to have smbpasswd look for something other than a username when adding
a machine-account? this would make things a lot easier for me...
