NEED HELP WITH RSYNC on LINUX

We are trying to get the rsync utility from www.samba.org/rsync to work on the 
linux (redhat) 2.2.1 system. We are running the cleint and server program on 
different linux systems.

   Cleint side command
    

                   $rsync path <hostname>::bala/home/bala

			where bala is defined as the module in the rsyncd.conf

	  On the server side we are running the rsyncd as follows

		$rsync --daemon 

    The client prog does not written any error, but the log file created by the 
server report the following

	rsync  server 2.2.1 starting
	wrote 32 bytes of 78 bytes from a buffer of 3015 bytes
	end-of-file

Where are we going wrong, else please suggest whom should we contact for 
rsync related problem.
