Andrew,
Sorry for my harsh reply. I was a bit irritated after handing you a finger
and you grabbed the whole hand :-)

Again, can I see a trace from the problem you describe?

The information you want is publically available in the KB:
Q216471 (NetBT Improvements for Connections Between Multihomed Computers),
Q161425 (WinNT 4.0 SP2 Multihomed Computer Connection Enhancement), Q185786
(Recommended Practices for WINS), Q167964 (NetBT Sends Wrong IP Address for
Multihomed Computer), Q131641 (NetBT Supports One IP Address per NIC)

regards
Martin

Martin,

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you offering to get traces for us (in
which case, thanks!) or do you need some traces from us?

The start of the thread was a problem a user was having when he used a
Samba WINS server and a multi-homed NT client. The multi-homed NT
client registered multiple IPs with the Samba WINS server. Another NT
client them sent a name query for the multi-homed name. The Samba
server gave back the list of IPs. Apparently the NT client receiving
this reply didn't interpret it as expected.

What we need to know is:

1) does a NT WINS server send back all IPs when a client queries a
multi-homed name that is registered with WINS.
2) if it does, then is there any difference between how we send the
name query reply and how the NT WINS server does it.

To do these tests we need to have a multi-homed NT client. I don't
have one :(

Cheers, Tridge
