smbmount file refreshing

Ok, I know smbmount isn't supported in samba, but maybe some samba users
can address this, as well as Mike who this is cc:'d to.

Scenario:
Windows NT 4 Server with sp5.
Caldera Linux client with smbmount (tried version from samba v1.9.18 and
v2.0.4)

Running a RADIUS server on the NT box. The directory that the RADIUS log
file is in is set up as a share. The RADIUS log filesize changes
continously.
With smbmount i'm mounting said share so my unix scripts can parse the log
file. The scripts only parse NEW info/bytes every 2 minutes (previous run
filesize is saved and compared to the current size of the logfile)

Problem:

Sporadically (for usually periods of 6-12 minutes) the log filesize
and file contents will not update on the unix end. NT is the only thing
that writes to the file.
Even doing ls -l or stat() on the file does not show the updated size.
Even if size is updated, contents not necessarily are.

Some people have told me that this is because smbmount is reading cached
info.
Is there any way this can be remedied?

Thanx,

-Tony
