SWAT oddity

I added a rather long print command to one of my printers using
SWAT:

lpr -r -P%p %s ; printf "\007" | lpr -r -P%p

The printer is an old ascii line printer, and so it understands that an
ascii 7 is a beep. So I want the printer to beep when I print something
to it. After I commit the changes, the entire command line isn't
present in the input box, although the correct line was written to
/etc/smb.conf.
Is there some size restriction when doing things via SWAT?
