smbclient terminal codes etc

Hi folks,

smbclient accepts a command-line option of -t which is followed by a
terminal code.

The documentation says these can be one of sjis, euc, jis7, jis8, junet,
hex, or cap.

A pesky editor at Macmillan Computer Publishing wants me to explain these.
Where can I find the info?
