 Latest code no longer trips a run-away for me, however now usermgr
crashes during startup!. 'Illegal memory location'.
 In the user window behind the error dialog, I see that some users appear
to be listed twice, and I wonder if the bug that is causing duplicates is
responsible for eventually crashing usermgr.

 (I actually have no need for usrmgr to work - its just gets tried each
time as a test :-)
