Yes, I understand that there are other OS's out there running Samba.  This
is *not* intended to be a replacement to Samba (partly because of
licensing).  This was/is part of an embedded project using linux as the
embedded OS.

It would be incredibly difficult to create a kernel module that could be
ported to different kernels.
