Subject: CIFS extension for Unix
Does anybody have some news about the CIFS extension for Unix, the
current state the project and its perspective.
I tried out the patches found at
http://linux.uni-regensburg.de/samba/cifs.html. It seems to work, but these
patches are only for Samba 1.9.16p10 and Linux 2.0.28 kernel.
My questions are :
- does anybody use these patches in a wide network environment ? It is
safe ? (some notes on the site say that it will crash the system for sure,
but I didn't experience it)
- is there any similar patches for Samba 2 and Linux 2.2 kernel ?
- does Samba Team plan to support this extension in future release of
samba and smbsh ?
- if not, do your know a way to allow individual user share on unix to
unix system.
Thank for your answer.
