cvs update -d -P fails

Hi,

  My automatic CVS update and uild has been failing for a few weeks with:

cvs server: Updating source
cvs update: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or directory
cvs [update aborted]: cannot open CVS/Entries.Log: No such file or directory

I'm not terribly conversant with cvs, does anybody know what the problem could
be?
