modtime not preserved on copying onto samba-2 share

Copying file from WinNT4 onto samba-2 does not preserved time. File gets the
current timestamp. I compared samba log with NT4 server. Looking at session
capture between two NT4 I could not find any place, where file times are
changed. At least, this is not shown by netmon. They do NTcreatX, write, set
file info, notify chage. At least text printout does not show any file times
in these frames. After this is done, file suddenly appears in reply to find
first having correct times set.

I am happy to send netmon between two NT's, NT and SAMBA as well as log 100
between NT4 and SAMBA . The main difference as far as I can tell is, that
NT4-NT4 does a lot of ChangeNotify requests, where NT4-SAMBA not. Also,
there are some packages in NT4-SAMBA, which netmon does not understand.

The problem is actually quite serious. I already had the case, when I could
not install software because of modtime mismatch :((
